Driving Security

I'm back again after some days of not posting.  Well.  A couple of days ago I read on gmx that Driving Law Enforcement in France is being tightened. Apparently, they're starting with a Driving License with Points system: everybody gets 20 (good) points, and points get substracted for every offence.  The article went on to say that offences (and therefore point penalties) can be accumulated, and in a sort of "how outrageous" tone of voice they say that if, for example, you are caught phoning in the car without handsfree thingie, not wearing your seatbelt and driving to fast at the same time, you lose 11 of your 20 points.  My opinion: this is not outrageous at all, it serves them right for driving so irresponsibly.  Speeding is an offence I can live with (as long as it's just a bit), not wearing your seatbelt is plain dumb (endangers yourself) but most of all phoning without handsfree thingie really gets me because that not only endangers the driver but ME as well.

That being said: yesterday I saw a policeman in uniform driving a police car, phoning withing handsfree thingie.  Oh Brave New World ...
