I watched Episode III yesterday. The movie does live up to the dark tone set in the trailer. The inner conflict of Anakin is nicely played out, although the real star of the movie (acting-wise) is Ian McDiarmid as Palpatine. There's lots of action in true Star Wars fashion, the right dose of comic relief (i.e. just a few cool moments, and thankfully none of them featuring Jar Jar Binks), lots of action, and manipulations by Palpatine. This is Star Wars as it should be.
Without giving too much away about the movie, I'd like to point out two things - one of them positive, one of them negative. Positive: the story about Darth Whatshisname the Wise, which rather nicely ties up a loose end from Episode I. The negative: Obi-Wan walked away on Mustafa (cheesy name for a planet, isn't it?) without finishing his work.
Peace and Order have been restored to the Galaxy, and thus vanishes Democracy: in a storm of applause.
