I read about 100 pages more in Joiner King. So I'm at about 250 of 450 pages, and I feel we are still very much in the opening of the chess match that the Dark Nest trilogy is turning into. The question is: who is playing against whom, and who is playing with whom? It's obvious that some of the Kind will turn out to be the bad "guys", but are they all bad? Or is it only a faction who turned evil and are the other races of the Kind victims too? And what are the Chiss up to? I haven't read much about their motives yet. And where is Lomi? Is she the "Unseen Queen"?

Anyway, I like it when books take their time to build.

One s(n)ide remark, though: I sometimes had the feeling of being in the wrong universe. Since when does the Falcon have Warp nacelles?! Whatever happened to the hyperdrive motivators?
