GP Turkey
Yesterday's inaugural race in Turkey was an entertaining event. Lots of little dramas, more overtaking than usual - it made for a typical "He who is without problems, wins" race. Interesting to see that the between their two cars, Williams...

GP Hungary
Yesterday's race wasn't too bad - for a Hungarian GP, that is. I'd have thought that the only interesting bit would be to see how many (or rather how few) Michael Schumacher would manage to stay out. I suspected he was very light. Turns out...

It wasn't me, teacher, they are the culprits!
Is what basically everybody is saying about the Formula 1 Indy fiasco. The meanings of "me" and "they" are of course dependent on just who is speaking at any given moment. Come on, people! Can we please stop laying and fending off...

A sad day for Formula 1 (continued)
Jean Todt has defended his stance during the Indy GP. A quote from it: There was even a suggestion that the Michelin teams would compete for no points if a chicane was installed. But Todt's reply was "would we have competed for no points? I say...

A sad day for Formula 1
Yesterday's "race" was a sad event in the history of Formula 1. I'll try to skip the "laying blame" phase and try to see the larger point of view. Fact is that Michelin did not guarantee the safety of the tires that were to...

GP Canada
The GP of Canada was mildly boring during the first half of the race - apart from the start, that is. Pretty impressive how both Renaults sailed past Button and Schumacher, one on the left side and one on the right side. Then the demanding circuit Gilles...

Should Raikonnen have changed his front right tire?
One of the big questions after Sunday's race was "Should Räikönnen have changed his front right tire?". I side with Kimi and Ron Dennis in saying "No". Had he stopped, his race would have been busted and he'd have received...

GP Europe
The Grand Prix of Europe turned out to be more entertaining than I expected: a first-corner incident (isn't it time for another really big first-corner pile-up like Hockenheim 2003?), some off-track excursions by the leading guys and of course Kimi's...

GP Europe preview
Tatjana and I attended a wedding yesterday, so we are both rather tired today. The race had better be interesting, or we'll both fall asleep watching it ...

GP of Monaco
Yesterday's Grand Prix of Monac wasn't too bad for a Monaco Grand Prix. It wasn't as thrilling as last year's race, but not as boring as the procession two years ago. Things started to get interesting towards the end, when Alonso's...

Grand Prix of Spain
The race itself was pretty boring: not many fights, and the predicted titanic, race-long battle between Alonso and Schumacher didn't happen. Too bad. The race weekend did feature another stellar performance by Heinz Prüller, though. When Schumacher...

Cross-Cultural differences in Sports
I stumbled over a page describing cross-cultural differences across the world with regard to sports. Living in Austria (but not being an Austrian), I found the entry about Austria quite amusing: You know how football ("soccer", Fussball) is...

Ferrari are back
Yesterdays F1 Grand Prix of Imola was a thrilling event. There's one conclusion to be drawn: Ferrari are back. Michael Schumacher started from 13th position after making an error in the second qualifying session. The first half of the race was quite...
